Weightlifting but adding group fitness

I love a good weightlifting workout and now, as a group fitness instructor, I do both cardio and strength training. After incorporating group fitness, I noticed more than just my physical health changed. Here are some of the benefits I saw after taking group fitness classes.

◦ Confidence. Working out with people is intimidating, but it’s also good to get out of your comfort zone. People may think that I’ve always had the confidence that I have when I’m on the mic. But, in all reality, it started when I began taking group fitness. I was always the shy girl who never talked unless you got to know me. Now I feel like I’m an open book and live my life with authenticity and without limits.

◦ Community. I created a community when I started taking fitness classes, I get to meet new people every day. They have become really good friends that wouldn’t have made without group fitness classes.

◦ Motivation. They keep you motivated and also become a good support system to get you back in that group fitness room when you are struggling.

◦ Physical health. Everyone is beautiful but, I know a lot of people go to the gym to start losing weight. I don’t love this as a main goal. Personally, I want everyone to just move their body and feel the best that they can. Weight loss is just a perk. But, when I started doing fitness classes, I lost more weight than when I was just weightlifting. Adding a group fitness class will benefit your weight loss journey

◦ Energy. You would think working out would make you exhausted. However, I actually feel less tired during the day and have more stamina and energy to get through my day.

Variety is the spice of life! There are a number of different classes at many different gyms. When I start to feel the burnout of weightlifting and don’t have the motivation to go to the gym, I can always find a new class that makes me feel the motivation to get after it. Finding that supportive community is the best way for you to stay motivated at the gym.

I challenge you today to sign up for a group fitness class. It doesn’t have to be one of mine but, I would love to see you there. Just try something new. Push yourself outside of your comfort zone and find something you enjoy.
